Diabetic Info

If you are a diabetic, and are taking either insulin or an oral hypoglycemic agent, there are several things you must be aware of when dieting. Your blood sugar will be lower on any diet, such as the American Diabetic Association (ADA) diet or on the Arizona Diet Products program. We recommend that you consult with the physician that is helping manage your diabetes before even beginning on a diet. While increased blood sugar (Hyperglycemia) is the primary imbalance resulting from diabetes, low blood sugar (Hypoglycemia) is a much more life threatening problem. For this reason, while beginning the Arizona Diet Products program, we recommend that you monitor your blood sugar twice daily for the first two weeks. Your blood sugar will naturally run lower than normal while on the diet, and you should be aware of this. If at any time you have any of the symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as breaking out in a  sweat, becoming tremulous, having difficulty focusing, or becoming light headed, you should immediately eat something. You can eat one or our bars or a shake or pudding, or if you feel you are in distress, have some orange juice. That will normally take care of the problem. You should expect your blood sugar to be lower than normal while on the diet, so pay attention to it.
